Who We Are

The Knoxville Squares are members of the Council of East Tennessee Square and Round Dance Clubs and members of the Knoxville Square Dance Association (KSDA). The former is the S/R Dance clubs of Areas III and V of the State S/R Dance Association. The Knoxville Squares and the Roundelays (an advanced Round Dance club) are the members of KSDA. The Knoxville Squares club is a consolidation of the KSDA North, East, South, and West square dance clubs that danced at Jessamine Dance Center for 42 years. KSDA danced at the Jessamine Dance Center from 1960 until April 20, 2002, ending with our 42nd Annual Dogwood Dance. The demolition of the building occurred the following week to make way for a new YMCA. With the help of other area dancers, we salvaged the dance floor and it was installed upstairs at Tulip Street. At that time, we moved our dancing activities to the Square Dance Center on Tulip Street and the square dancers adopted the club name of the Knoxville Squares.
