Special Events

While every dance with the Knoxville Squares is a special one, we like to have special events for those really, really special occasions. Guests will often join us for these events and staff callers Beverly and Bob Casteel are usually on hand to cue the round dances. But no matter who is calling, you're always sure to have a great time when you're dancing with the Knoxville Squares.

Jerry Helt April 05 2008 48th Annual Dogwood Dance	Jerry Helt is back for another Dogwood Dance. A long-time favorite of the Knoxville dance crowd will once again explode the squares as well as entertain us with his smooth, melow voice. Beverly and Bob Casteel will provide the round dance cues in between squares.
Lottie Ainsworth May 10 2008 47th Annual Anniversary Dance	www.lottieainsworth.com The prettiest lady in square dancing will return to the stage of SDI to again charm us with her smile and beautiful voice. A favorite wherever she goes. Lottie is becoming a regular caller in the Knoxville area and we welcome her back for this very special dance. Round dances will be cued by our very own beautiful Beverly Casteel.
Steve Jacques May 31 2008 5th Saturday Night Special	www.stevenjacques.com Steve is a full time traveling caller on the Crown Record Label with a couple of our other favorites; Ken Bower and Gary Shoemake. Steve is a forty year veteran that entertains as well as call dances. This is his first visit to the Knoxville area so let's roll ut the Red Carpet and welcome him to East TN. Beverly Casteel will be on hand to cue rounds between tips.
Ken Bower July 23, 2008 Ken Bower Wednesday Night Special	Ken Bower has made an annual stop in Knoxville for the past 30+ years. Always a pleasure to dance with him. Guaranteed a good time. So spread out your square then bring it in normal and get ready to have a wonderful night of dancing. Beverly and Bob Casteel will top off the night by cueing the round dances.
Jimmy Roberson Aug. 30 2008 5th Saturday Night Special	http://www4.ncsu.edu/~godfrey/roberson.htm Jimmy Roberson is a 30 year veteran fom Oxford, NC and is quickly becoming a popular caller in this area. He shares the stage with other popular callers at a Gatlinburg Square-Up and also called here for the Grand Rounds Anniversary Dance last December. Come ready to dance and have fun. Round Dancing will be provided by the Casteels.
Jerry Story Sept. 04 2008 Jerry Story Thursday Night Special	www.jerrystory.com Jerry returns for his third annual Thursday night special dance for Knoxville Squares. We are honored to have one the top callers in the country to join us for this fun event. If you love square dancing, you don't want to miss this one. To round out this evening will be our own Beverly Casteel cueing rounds.
Justin Russell Nov. 29 2008 5th Saturday Night Special	http://justin-russell.com Justin began calling in 2003 at the age of 14 and is currently a student at the University of Memphis. He has called in 12 different states and will be adding at least two more to his agenda this year. You may have seen him at the National Convention as well as our State Conv. and now you can dance to him right here at SDI. Justin seems to be catching the attention of square dancers everywhere. Jeanette Bowen will complete this line-up with Line Dancing.
Dec. 13 2008 Christmas Pot Luck Dinner and Dance	Our annual Christmas dinner and dance is getting bigger and better each year. Bring a covered dish and join us for a sit down dinner prior to the dance. Our own Mike Hoose will call the squares while Beverly and Bob cue the rounds. Dinner at 6:30 and early rounds at 7:30.
